BRIDGEPORT, Conn. – Playing their final game of the regular season, the University of Bridgeport's men's soccer team rattled off a 4-0 Senior Night win over Dominican on Wednesday. The commanding victory clinched the No. 2 seed for the Purple Knights in the upcoming CACC Tournament. UB will host Dominican (No. 7 seed) once again in the CACC Quarterfinals on Sunday at 1 p.m.
In a dominant effort from start to finish, Bridgeport jumped in front early when Loik Poder opened the scoring in the 15th minute off an assist from Ewen Le Cozic.
The Purple Knights doubled their lead before halftime as Jose Uresti converted in the 34th minute, finishing a setup from Calvin Paulick.
The Purple Knights didn't let up after the break.
Kaanturk Akgul extended the margin to 3–0 with a free-kick goal in the 57th minute, and Kristians Prieditis capped the scoring in the 72nd minute on a feed from Lucas Mah.
Bridgeport outshot Dominican 19–3 and held a 6–0 advantage in corner kicks, while goalkeepers Viktor Mašek and Dany Hernandez combined on the team's fourth clean sheet of the season.
