Purple Knights Close Out 2016 Home Volleyball Schedule With Senior Night Sweep Over Molloy

Bridgeport, Conn.-It was a happy Senior Night and 2016 home finale for the University of Bridgeport women's volleyball team on Tuesday night in Hubbell Gym, as the host Purple Knights swept the visiting Molloy College Lions in East Coast Conference play, 25-17, 28-26, 25-20.  With the victory, UB heads into its 2016 regular season final match at NYIT on Thursday night with s 14-11 overall record and a 10-3 ECC mark.  Molloy falls to 6-23 overall and 3-10 in conference action.

Senior Sara Cruz (Belo Horizonte, Brazil) led the UB offense with 12 kills, and she finished with a double recording 10 digs.

Classmate Amelie Guinci (Cannes, France), stepping away from her normal libero position, notched first career double-double involving kills with 11 and digs, as she also had 11.

Junior Sheri Middleton (Humboldt, Kansas) also had 11 kills, and she hit .688 on the night as she had 16 attacks with no errors, plus Middleton added seven blocks to lead all players on the night.

UB sophomore setter Ellie Rich (Highlands Ranch, Colo.) had her own double-double with 38 assists and 13 digs.  Rich also contributed six kills for the winners.

Senior Salina DeCicco (Kingston, N.Y.), who started at libero for the Purple Knights, led all players on the night in digs with 14.
