Women’s Wrestling's Rywolt Ranked 20th Nationally by The Open Mat
Sophomore holds a 14-1 record this season with six pins and eight tech falls.
BRIDGEPORT, Conn. – Following a superb start to her sophomore season, Lindsey Rywolt of the University of Bridgeport's women's wrestling team has been slotted 20th in the country at 124 lbs in the The Open Mat's most recent NCAA National Rankings. She had already been put at No. 2 in Region I according the NWCA's Regional Rankings that came out two weeks ago.
Rywolt has put together a dominant start to her year, posting a 14-1 overall record highlighted by six pins and eight tech falls. She opened her campaign with a strong fifth-place finish at the East Stroudsburg Open, going 6-1 and knocking off two regionally ranked opponents. Rywolt then carried that momentum into dual action, earning tech fall victories against both Norwich and Western New England.
Rywolt's performance only improved from there, as she claimed first place at the Millersville Collegiate Open with a perfect 4-0 record—all by tech fall. She followed that with another title at the Bridgeport Open, securing both a pin and a tech fall along the way.
Rywolt and the rest of UB's women's wrestling team will return to action on Sunday (Dec. 7) at the Muhlenberg Tournament.
