Rywolt of Women’s Wrestling Earns Spot in NWCA Regional Rankings
Recognized for 8-1 start to the year with five pins and three tech falls.
BRIDGEPORT, Conn. – In recognition of her outstanding start to the season, University of Bridgeport sophomore Lindsey Rywolt has been slotted second (Region 1) at 124 lbs in the National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) Regional Rankings released earlier this week.
Rywolt has been nothing short of sensational to start UB's first-ever women's wrestling campaign. She opened the year with a fifth-place finish at the East Stroudsburg Open on Nov. 2, going 6–1 with five pins, a tech fall, and wins over fellow regionally-ranked opponents Megan Edwards (Elmira) and Lauren Nguyen (Sacred Heart).
She carried that momentum into dual-meet action, delivering back-to-back dominant tech-fall victories against Norwich and Western New England. Rywolt needed just 1:36 combined to post a pair of 10-0 wins in those matchups.
