Volleyball's Jessen Selected to D2CCA's All-East Region Second Team
Adds to resume that features CACC All-Conference First Team honors and CACC Tournament MVP.
BRIDGEPORT, Conn. – A day before facing top-seeded Bentley in the first round of the NCAA East Regional, Hailey Jessen of the University of Bridgeport's volleyball team has been announced as a second-team D2CCA All-East Region selection.
Jessen has put together a terrific junior season for the Purple Knights, earning her second career CACC All-Conference First Team selection. She was also named as the CACC's Tournament MVP after averaging 5.3 kills and 3.1 digs per set across UB's three postseason wins, highlighted by a career-high 28 kills in the championship victory over Holy Family.
For the year, the Colorado native is averaging 3.77 kills per set, ranking second in the CACC and fifth in the East Region. She's hitting .215 which is the fourth-highest percentage for CACC players with more than 900 total attempts. Jessen has been especially dominant down the stretch, averaging 4.89 kills per set over UB's last seven matches.
Defensively, Jessen has elevated her game to the tune of 2.49 digs per set—up from 1.28 as a freshman and 0.64 as a sophomore—making her one of the region's most reliable all-around players. She also leads the Purple Knights with 42 aces, adding another layer to her impact.
Jessen and the rest of UB's volleyball team will return to action on Thursday at the NCAA East Regional in Waltham, Mass. The eighth-seeded Purple Knights will take on top-seeded Bentley at 4:30 p.m.
