Volleyball Celebrates Senior Night With Sweep Of Roberts Wesleyan

Bridgeport, Conn.-The University of Bridgeport women's volleyball team wrapped up their 2015 regular season schedule with a happy Senior Night on Friday, as the Purple Knights cruised to a straight sets, 25-9, 25-19, 25-6, East Coast Conference home win over the visiting Roberts Wesleyan College Redhawks on Friday.  UB now heads into next weekend's ECC Championship Tournament as number one with, as UB is now 23-8 and finished atop the ECC regular season standings with a 15-1 record.

Senior Sarah Rosa (Itajuba, Brazil) led UB with eight kills, and she contributed four of Bridgeport's season-match high 17 service aces.

Also celebrating Senior Night on Friday were Jade Zhao (Huhhot, China) with five kills and five total blocks, and Martina Santia (Sezze, Italy) who had a team-high 10 digs plus four kills and two service aces.

UB junior Katarina Krstonosic (Kikinda, Serbia) had six kills and a team-leading five service aces for the winners.

Freshman setter Ellie Rich (Highlands Ranch, Colo.) directed the Purple Knights' offense with 26 assists, and junior Amelie Guinci (Cannes, France) had eight digs for UB.

Up next, the UB women's volleyball team will host the ECC Women's Volleyball Championship Tournament for the fourth straight season.  The top-seeded Purple Knights will face the fourth-seeded LIU Post Pioneers on Friday, November 20 at a time to be determined.  The other semifinal will have Dowling taking on NYIT.  The ECC Final will be played on Saturday evening, November 21.
