Bridgeport, Conn.-The University of Bridgeport women's volleyball team wrapped up first place in the 2015 East Coast Conference regular season standings with a straight sets, 25-11, 25-19, 25-13, win over the visiting Daemen College Wildcats on Thursday night. UB is now 15-1 in conference play and 22-8 overall. Daemen is now 7-8 in the ECC and 12-16 overall.
Junior Sara Cruz (Belo Horizonte, Brazil) led a UB offense that hit .400 as a team with 14 kills. She also registered eight digs and two service aces on the night.
Senior Sarah Rosa (Itajuba, Brazil) and junior Frida Randen (Sodertalje, Sweden) each had nine kills for the winners, and junior Katarina Krstonosic (Kikinda, Serbia) added eight kills with no errors for the Purple Knights.
Junior libero Amelie Guinci (Cannes, France) led the Bridgeport defense with a match-high 14 digs.
The Bridgeport women's volleyball team will close out their 2015 regular season tomorrow night, Friday, November 13 with a Senior Night contest against Roberts Wesleyan College. First serve is set for 7:00 p.m. in Hubbell Gym.
