NEWARK, Del. – In the final game of their regular season, the University of Bridgeport's women's lacrosse team (8-6, 5-4 CACC) dropped a 23-5 matchup at Wilmington on Saturday. The Purple Knights now turn their focus to the CACC Tournament, where they enter as the No. 5 seed and will face fourth-seeded Georgian Court in Tuesday's quarterfinal round.
Tara Dimaio and Dani Strong accounted for all five goals for UB, with Dimaio recording a hat trick while also leading the team with five draw controls.
Strong added a pair of tallies and turned in a strong all-around effort, posting season highs with five ground balls and three caused turnovers to go along with three draw controls.
Payton Noack and Emily Stuart each contributed an assist for the Purple Knights.
Defensively, UB goalkeepers Juliana Reyes and Amber Militrano combined for 10 saves in the effort.
After a competitive start that saw the game tied at 1-1, the Wildcats seized control with a dominant stretch, closing the first half on a 12-3 run to build a commanding lead and cruise the rest of the way.
