Women's Lacrosse Earns Decisive Triumph at Felician, 13-2
Purple Knights open the game on a 10-0 run.
EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. – Beginning the final week of their regular season, the University of Bridgeport's women's lacrosse team rattled off a 13-2 win at Felician on Wednesday night. The Purple Knights, who have already secured a spot in the CACC Tournament, now sit with an overall record of 8-5 (5-3 CACC).
The Purple Knights set the tone early with a 10-0 run to start the game and never looked back, controlling the contest from start to finish.
Tara Dimaio spearheaded the offensive attack with a team-best six points on four goals and two assists, while also contributing defensively with a pair of caused turnovers and ground balls.
Payton Noack turned in one of her most complete outings of the season, finishing with five points (4G, A) to go along with team highs of four ground balls and four draw controls, in addition to a pair of caused turnovers.
Noack also made history in the win, breaking Bridgeport's single-season draw control record. She now has 73 draw controls this season, surpassing the previous mark of 71 set by Danielle Kreitler.
Emily Stuart added two goals for the Purple Knights, while Cassidy Dalton, Elizabeth Pitts, and Dani Strong each chipped in with a goal to round out a balanced scoring effort.
Defensively, Bridgeport received strong play in net, as Juliana Reyes and Amber Militrano combined for 11 saves.
The Purple Knights also controlled the stat sheet with advantages in draw controls (11-7), ground balls (19-16), and total shots (28-13).
