Women's Hoops Downed By ECC Leader UDC, 70-56

Washington, D.C.-The University of Bridgeport women's basketball team never led on the afternoon, as the Purple Knights fell to East Coast Conference-leading and host the University of the District of Columbia Firebirds, 70-56, on a snowy Saturday afternoon in our Nation's Capital.  UB is now 4-21 overall and 2-15 in conference play.  UDC raises its overall record to 23-3,and the Firebirds are now 16-2 in the ECC.

Sophomore Evelyn Ovner (Vallentuna, Sweden) led Bridgeport in scoring with 15 points, and she was joined in double figures by senior Vanessa Schindler (Leimen, Germany) with 10 points.

UDC's Denila Brent led all scorers in the game with 16 points.

The UB women's basketball team is back in action at home on Tuesday night when they host Dowling College.  Game time is set for 5:00 p.m.
