Jordan Thurman Head Athletic Trainer (203) 576-4784 jthurman@bridgeport.edu Jordan Thurman was elevated to UB's Head Athletic Trainer in August of 2025 after serving as an assistant AT over the past three school years. She originally came to Bridgeport after serving as the Head Athletic Trainer at nearby Fairfield Warde High School for seven years. Thurman was a jack of all trades during her time at Fairfield Warde. She cared for and evaluated orthopedic and general medical pathologies for over 35 different sports. She also educated athletes on the prevention of common orthopedic injuries and established unique dynamic warm-up routines for individual teams. In addition to her professional experience, Thurman also owns several certifications. She is First Aid/CPR/AED certified, BOC certified and a member of NATA. Thurman is also certified in cupping therapy. Academically, Thurman earned a Bachelor of Science in Athletic Training from Hofstra University in 2015. As an AT student, she assisted Certified Athletic Trainers with care and prevention of injuries, aided during emergency medical situations, and developed rehabilitation protocols and daily treatments. |

Orthopaedic Specialty Group is the largest and most experienced orthopaedic practice in Southern Connecticut. Our physicians’ wide range of expertise provides complete care in all areas of treatment including advanced surgical and nonsurgical techniques, pain management and rehabilitation.They have several locations throughout the southern Connecticut area and also provide on-campus assessments on a weekly basis throughout the academic year. Daniel Weiland, MD Dr. Weiland, a Fairfield County resident, has been practicing orthopaedic surgery and sports medicine since 2006. He began his career at Orthopaedic Sports & Medicine Center and joined Orthopaedic Specialty Group in 2017. Dr. Weiland’s specialties predominately include arthroscopic surgeries, shoulders, knee and hips. Over the past 10 years, he has worked closely with University of Bridgeport athletes as the head team physician. He covers a vast range of sports injuries for all ages. In his spare time, Dr. Weiland enjoys spending time with his family, participating in triathlons, skiing and other physical fitness related activities. Medical Team Physician
