Garden City, N.Y.-The University of Bridgeport softball team returned to the diamond for the first time since they took the field in Florida on Friday, March 4 on Wednesday afternoon, and the Purple Knights were swept in a doubleheader by the host Adelphi University Panthers, falling 6-2 in game one, and 5-0 in game two. UB is now 9-6 overall, and Adelphi moves its season mark to 8-6 overall.
In game, senior Kaira Ramon (Stamford, Conn.) and junior Meg McFarland (Monroe, Conn.) each drove in a run.
Junior Katite Burawski (Hartley, Del.) worked a complete game in the pitching circle for the Purple Knights, as she added eight more strikeouts to her season total.
UB was limited to only three hits as a team as they were blanked by the Panthers in the nightcap.
Up next, the UB softball team will look to get back in the win column on Sunday afternoon in Buffalo, New York, as the Purple Knights open their 2022 East Coast Conference schedule with a 12 noon doubleheader at D'Youville College.
