Softball Stumbles In Doubleheader Against Dominican (N.Y.) College

Bridgeport, Conn.-The University of Bridgeport softball team fell in both end of a non-conference doubleheader on a wet and chilly afternoon in Seaside Park, as the Purple Knights were nipped in game one by Dominican (N.Y.) College, 4-3, and the visiting Chargers completed the sweep with a 5-2 victory in the nightcap in a contest shorten to five innings by rain.  Bridgeport is now 23-9 overall on the season, and Dominican ups its season mark to 14-15.

In the opener, Bridgeport senior Jenna DiLorenzo (Woodbridge, Conn.) had three hits and an RBI.  Junior Allison Luzzi (East Haven, Conn.) had two hits, and classmate Abbigail Blanchard (Pawcatuck, Conn.) knocked in UB's other run.

DiLorenzo added another run batted in game two, and freshman Skylar Glaude (Las Vegas, Nev.) also had an RBI for the Purple Knights in the nightcap.

The Bridgeport softball team returns to the diamond and East Coast Conference play on Thursday afternoon at NYIT.
