HOOKSETT, N.H. – Playing on the road at top-seeded and No. 6 nationally ranked SNHU in the NCAA Super Regional Second Round, the University of Bridgeport men's soccer team saw its magical 2025 campaign come to an end on Sunday with a hard-fought 1-0 loss to the Penmen. The Purple Knights close their CACC Championship season with a 9-5-8 overall record.
After more than 75 minutes of scoreless action, the Penmen finally broke through in the 76th minute on a strike from Martin Fuentes.
UB goalkeeper Viktor Mašek was exceptional all afternoon, turning in a season-best 10 saves—five in each half—to keep the Purple Knights within reach despite SNHU's 21–5 shot advantage. His efforts helped steady a Bridgeport squad that continued to search for its moment late.
That moment nearly arrived with under two minutes left in regulation. Enzo Beatrix fired a dangerous, deflected attempt that looked destined for the equalizer before the SNHU keeper stretched out to make a clutch touch.
Beatrix finished with a team-high two shots on goal, while Bruno Cakurs and Kristians Prieditis also forced saves.
Despite Sunday's result, the Purple Knights have every reason to be proud of their postseason journey.
UB authored a gritty run that included a comeback 2-1 win over Dominican in the CACC quarterfinals, a penalty-kick victory against Wilmington in the semis, and a stunning rally over Post to secure the CACC championship and an NCAA berth.
The momentum carried into the NCAA Super Regional First Round, where the Purple Knights defeated Post once again on Friday. UB ultimately closed its season with nine wins and eight draws while playing the fifth-toughest schedule in all of Division II.
