BRIDGEPORT, Conn. - For the second time in six days, the University of Bridgeport's men's soccer team topped CACC rival Post—this time with a 2-1 victory at SNHU in the NCAA Tournament First Round. With the win, the Purple Knights (No. 9 seed) advance to Sunday's NCAA Regional Quarterfinals, where they'll face top-seeded SNHU at 3 p.m.

After conceding the opening goal in the 13th minute, the Purple Knights responded quickly when Loik Poder buried the equalizer in the 20th minute off a setup from Kristians Prieditis.

Bridgeport found the winner midway through the second half, as Prieditis delivered a header into the back of the net in the 71st minute, assisted by Enzo Beatrix.

Prieditis, who has now scored in four of his last five games, continues to lead the Purple Knights in goals this season (8). He is also tied with Beatrix for the team lead in points (17).

Sophomore goalkeeper Viktor Mašek anchored a resilient defensive effort, making three key saves to preserve the lead while Bridgeport withstood a late surge from Post, which outshot UB 10–2 after halftime.

The Purple Knights totaled nine shots in the match and stayed organized defensively despite absorbing six Post corner kicks.

UB's win on Friday signified the Purple Knights' first NCAA Tournament victory since 1990.

Bridgeport now turns its attention to top-seeded and No. 6 nationally ranked SNHU, meeting the Penmen for the second time this season. In the first matchup on Sept. 17, SNHU earned a 3–1 win, scoring twice in the final four minutes to pull away.
