BRIDGEPORT, Conn. – Continuing a stretch of three straight home games, the University of Bridgeport's men's soccer team tied Holy Family, 1-1, on Saturday at Knights Field. The Purple Knights remain unbeaten in the CACC this season at 3-0-5 (3-4-7 overall).
Bridgeport's lone goal came in the 21st minute off a sensational individual play from Joao Miranda. The junior dribbled through four Holy Family defenders into the middle of the box before hammering a right-footed shot into the upper-left corner of the net.
The Tigers notched the game's equalizer just two minutes later. Ned Lewis headed in a cross from Luiz Recchimuzzi to tie the score at 1-1.
Following the Holy Family tally, the game finished with more than 67 minutes of scoreless action.
Bridgeport ended the contest with a 17-10 advantage in shots while posting an 8-4 edge in corners (6-0 in the second half).
UB goalkeeper Viktor Mašek made three saves in a complete 90 minutes. Holy Family's keeper also managed three stops in the contest.
