HOOKSETT, N.H. – Playing against one of the top teams in the country thus far this season, the University of Bridgeport's men's soccer team dropped a 3-1 contest at sixth-ranked SNHU on Wednesday night. The loss puts the Purple Knights' record at 0-3-1 against a tough schedule to open 2025.
After a scoreless first half in which sophomore goalkeeper Viktor Mašek made several key saves to keep the Purple Knights level, Bridgeport answered a second-half Penmen goal with a strike of their own.
In the 75th minute, it was graduate defender Samuel Dundas heading in an equalizer off a perfectly-placed free kick from Kaanturk Akgul to make it 1-1. Akgul now leads Bridgeport with five points this season off two goals and an assist.
SNHU regained control late, scoring twice in the final four minutes to seal the result. Masek finished with eight saves in net as UB battled against heavy offensive pressure, with the Penmen outshooting the visitors 30-2.
