BRIDGEPORT, Conn. – In honor of several excellent performances last week, seniors Luca Runyan and James Napoli of the University of Bridgeport's men's lacrosse team were each tabbed to the USILA's National Team of the Week on Wednesday. The duo was also recognized on Monday with CACC weekly awards.
Napoli powered the Purple Knights to a 2-0 week with a sensational offensive outburst, totaling 16 goals along with three assists and four ground balls. The standout attackman delivered a dominant showing in conference play, erupting for 10 goals in Saturday's win over Caldwell. Napoli continues to lead the CACC in goals per game (3.6) while also ranking second in points per game (4.7) this season.
Runyan delivered an all-around standout performance to help the Purple Knights to a 2-0 week. The Long Island native totaled six caused turnovers—three in each win—while adding 16 ground balls and six assists. He also anchored a dominant UB defensive effort that allowed just seven combined goals across the two games, including a second-half shutout against AIC.
