James Napoli, CACC Player of the Week (2nd straight) | Luca Runyan, CACC Defensive Player of the Week
BRIDGEPORT, Conn. – Following a dominant two-game stretch last week, the University of Bridgeport's men's lacrosse team earned a pair of Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) weekly awards on Monday. James Napoli was named as the CACC's Player of the Week for the second straight time while Luca Runyan was selected as the league's Defensive Player of the Week.
Napoli turned in a spectacular stretch to lead the Purple Knights to a pair of victories, piling up a remarkable 16 goals to go along with three assists and four ground balls. The standout attackman delivered a massive performance in conference play, scoring 10 goals in UB's win over Caldwell on Saturday. Napoli continues to lead the CACC in goals per game (3.6) this season while also ranking second in points per contest (4.7).
Runyan did a little bit of everything for the Purple Knights during their 2-0 week. The Long Island native totaled six caused turnovers—three in each victory—while scooping up 16 ground balls and dishing out six assists. Runyan was at the forefront of a UB defense that allowed just seven total goals across the two games and posted a second-half shutout against AIC.
