WALTHAM, Mass. – Fresh off starting CACC play with a win on Tuesday night, the University of Bridgeport's men's basketball team dropped a 79-65 non-conference matchup at Bentley on Sunday. The loss puts the Purple Knights' record at 3-2 this season (1-0, CACC).
Balance and three-point shooting proved to be two highlights for UB against Bentley. 12 different Purple Knights recorded a made field goal, leading to 38 bench points compared to just 16 from the Falcons.
Bridgeport also shot a season-high 44.0% from three (11-for-25), with Shedrach Makanjuola pacing the offense with 17 points on 6-for-14 shooting, including five made threes.
Fellow junior Zay Sullivan added 11 points and six rebounds, while Jayson Handy chipped in seven points and six boards. UB also generated 20 second-chance points behind 14 offensive rebounds, including a team-high four from Jaheem Tyson.
Bridgeport's other team leaders included John Dash Jr. with a team-best four assists while Jaden Palmer nabbed a team-high two steals.
UB trailed 42–27 at the break and outscored Bentley by a point in the second half (38-37), but the early deficit proved too much to erase.
