Men's Basketball's Cisse Selected to NABC's East Region All-District First Team
Previously named All-Region by the D2CCA and CACC Player of the Year, Tournament MVP.
BRIDGEPORT, Conn. – 10 days after earning All-Region first-team honors from the D2CCA, Aliou Cisse of the University of Bridgeport's men's basketball team picked up the same distinction from the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) on Monday. He is UB's first NABC All-District selection since Bakary Camara in 2020.
Cisse adds to a robust resume now that features a pair of All-East accolades in addition to being named the CACC's Player of the Year and MVP of the conference tournament.
Cisse's breakout season was underlined by incredible efficiency as his illustrious scoring was paired with consistent shot making. The junior swingman shot over 53-percent from the floor while averaging a remarkable 19.5 points per game. He ranked second in the CACC in scoring and seventh in field-goal percentage (53.7).
In addition to the offensive numbers, Cisse also had four double-doubles and finished with averages of 5.9 rebounds, 1.7 steals and 1.3 assists per contest. He had 10 games this season with at least 15 points, six rebounds and two steals.
The consistency from Cisse was further showcased by 29 games in double figures, only finishing below that threshold once the entire year. He poured in a season-high 37 points in a win at STAC on Nov. 19.
Cisse followed up his terrific regular season by being named the Most Valuable Player at the CACC Tournament. He helped UB to wins over Chestnut Hill, Dominican and Post en route to the program's first conference title since 2015.
Cisse averaged a team-high 15.7 points in the CACC Championship where UB had to tally three triumphs over higher-seeded teams to nab the trophy.
Cisse's final contest this season saw him score a team-best 16 points on 7-of-11 shooting during Bridgeport's NCAA Tournament loss at top-ranked Daemen.
