Cisse of Men's Basketball Named to D2CCA's All-East Region First Team
Adds to resume which features CACC Player of the Year and Tournament MVP honors.
BRIDGEPORT, Conn. – Adding to an ever-growing resume, Aliou Cisse of the University of Bridgeport's men's basketball team was recently voted to the D2CCA's All-East Region First Team. He is UB's first All-Region honoree since 2020 (Bakary Camara).
Efficiency, versatility and wins served as the main themes during Cisse's sensational junior campaign. The Yonkers, N.Y. native shot over 53-percent from the floor while averaging a remarkable 19.5 points per game. He was named the CACC's Player of the Year after ranking second in the league in scoring and seventh in field-goal percentage (53.7).
Cisse scored in double figures in 29 of his 30 games while racking up 11 20-point efforts. He also poured in a season-high 37 points in a win at STAC on Nov. 19. Notably, Cisse assembled those totals while playing 27.2 minutes per game—a mark that ranked 35th in the CACC.
In addition to the offensive numbers, Cisse also had four double-doubles and finished with averages of 5.9 rebounds, 1.7 steals and 1.3 assists per contest. He had 10 games this season with at least 15 points, six rebounds and two steals.
Cisse followed up his terrific regular season by being named the Most Valuable Player at the CACC Tournament. He helped UB to wins over Chestnut Hill, Dominican and Post en route to the program's first conference title since 2015.
Cisse averaged a team-high 15.7 points in the CACC Tournament where UB had to tally three triumphs over higher-seeded teams to nab the trophy.
