Cross Country Caps 2025 at NCAA East Regional
Purple Knights show incredible improvement from last year's final meet.
HOPKINTON, N.H. – Competing for the final time in 2025, the University of Bridgeport's cross country teams had four student-athletes represented at the NCAA East Regional held on Saturday in Hopkinton, N.H.
The Purple Knights' final meet of 2025 was highlighted by massive improvements, several PRs and another school record from senior Toby Middleton.
Middleton narrowly missed All-Region honors with a 26th-place showing out of 126 runners. He rattled off a 10K time of 33:25.09 which broke UB's previous program record held by sophomore Edoardo Vandelli.
Speaking of Vandelli, the Italian improved on a 75th-place effort from a season ago with a 36th-place finish in 2025. He posted a new PR time of 33:51.24.
On the women's side, sophomore Stephanie Lickteig improved her 6K time from a year ago by more than four minutes. She also upped her finish from 128th as a freshman to 49th on Saturday.
Lickteig wrapped up her second cross country season with a PR 6K of 24:50.76.
Senior Julia Fortune also strung together a sensational improvement in both time and finish from last fall. The Rhode Island native crossed the finish line on Saturday in a PR of 26:09.86 to finish in 79th.
Last year, Fortune posted a time of 28:25.2 to place 125th.

With the cross country campaign now finished, the Purple Knights turn their attention to the indoor track and field season.
