Cross Country Teams Deliver Strong Results at CACC Championship Meet
Women finish fourth out of 10 teams, men place sixth out of 11.
PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – A trio of All-Conference performers led the way as the University of Bridgeport's men's and women's cross country teams turned in strong showings at the 2025 CACC Championships on Sunday in Philadelphia, Pa. The women's team finished in fourth place while the men placed sixth.
MEN'S RECAP (6th Place, 8K)
A pair of top-five performances piloted the men's squad on Sunday. Senior Toby Middleton continued his outstanding season with a runner-up finish, clocking a time of 26:28.43 to secure All-CACC honors in his first season in the conference.
He was joined on the All-Conference list by sophomore Edoardo Vandelli, who crossed the line in 27:42.55 to place fifth overall. He improved on his 15th-place effort from a year ago that also landed him as an All-Conference honoree.
Freshman Alex Sanchez placed 37th with a time of 31:42.06, while Austin Wagoner took 60th in 38:06.16. Sunil Peters rounded out the Purple Knights' scoring contingent, finishing 65th in 48:03.50.
WOMEN'S RECAP (4th Place, 5K)
The Purple Knights improved five spots in the team standings from a year ago when they placed ninth overall.
Individually, Bridgeport was led by senior Julia Fortune, who earned All-Conference honors with a strong 13th-place finish in a time of 21:47.04.
Sophomore Stephanie Lickteig was close behind, taking 16th place with a time of 22:01.30, while Marcela Bañuelos added a 24th-place performance in 23:04.53 to give UB three runners inside the top 25.
Sophomore Abety Kivagheni finished 45th in 26:44.58, and Lynzie Lawton was right on her heels in 46th (26:46.63) to round out the team's scoring group.

The Purple Knights will compete in the NCAA East Regional in Hopkinton, N.H. on Nov. 8.
