Fortune and Middleton Sweep CACC Runner of the Week Awards
Both seniors finished first at MSMC's Pumpkin Run on Sunday.
BRIDGEPORT, Conn. – In recognition of their triumphant performances at Mount Saint Mary College's Fall Pumpkin Run, Toby Middleton and Julia Fortune of the University of Bridgeport's cross country teams were each named CACC Runner of the Week on Monday. Middleton has now earned the honor a conference-best three times this season.
Fortune was terrific during UB's final tune-up prior to next weekend's CACC Championship. The Rhode Island native topped a field of 29 runners at MSMC's Pumpkin Run, earning first place in the 5K. She clocked a collegiate-best time of 21:42.9.
Middleton also crossed the finish line first on Sunday in a race of 30 runners. The senior posted an 8K mark of 26:34.4 to secure his third top-10 finish of the year. He rebroke Bridgeport's 8K record (25:36.46) last weekend at the Hopkinton XC Festival.
Fortune, Middleton and the rest of UB's cross country squads will take part in the 2025 CACC Championships next Sunday (Oct. 26) in Philadelphia.
