RECAP: Cross Country Teams Take Part in Vassar's Ron Stonitsch Invitational
Edoardo Vandelli (broke his own school record) and Stephanie Lickteig each record new PRs.
POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. – Competing for the second time this fall, the University of Bridgeport's cross country teams took part in Vassar College's Ron Stonitsch Invitational on Saturday. UB was joined by nine other schools at the annual event held at Vassar Farm in Poughkeepsie, N.Y.
MEN'S RECAP (6K)
The Purple and White were led once again by sophomore Edoardo Vandelli, who placed 28th overall (20:13.5) while breaking his own 6K program record by nearly 55 seconds.
Freshman Alex Sanchez also made a strong impression in his first collegiate 6K, securing 80th place in 22:23.8.
Bridgeport's final two finishers included sophomore Austin Wagoner adding a 103rd-place effort (28:50.4) while freshman Jackson Sanders closed out the Purple Knights' contingent in 107th (37:51.1).
WOMEN'S RECAP (5K)
For the second straight Saturday, sophomore Stephanie Lickteig led the way with yet another personal-best time. The Milford, Conn. native clocked a mark of 21:44.2 to place 50th overall.
It was a pair of graduate students following Lickteig as Marcela Bañuelos placed 71st with a performance of 23:23.1 and Kara Sampath crossed the line in 95th at 34:48.0.
After the grad students, a pair of junior Purple Knights capped off the scoring. Samantha Rodriguez claimed 96th in 35:11.6 while Lynzie Lawton placed 97th with a time of 36:37.0.

The Purple Knights will have a few weeks off prior to competing in the Hopkinton XC Festival on Oct. 10 in Hopkinton, N.H.
