Volleyball's Jessen and Tomiello Earn 2025 CACC All-Conference Honors
Jessen named to First Team, Tomiello to Second Team; Both All-Conference for third straight year.
BRIDGEPORT, Conn. – A day after helping the Purple Knights to a quarterfinal win over Goldey-Beacom, Hailey Jessen and Lucia Tomiello of the University of Bridgeport's volleyball team were each named to 2025 CACC All-Conference teams on Wednesday. Jessen was selected to the league's First Team while Tomiello earned a spot on the Second Team.
Jessen capped another outstanding campaign by earning her third straight all-league honor and her second time on the top team. She currently ranks second in the conference in kills per set (3.63) this season, a number that climbed to 4.06 in CACC play.
Jessen, who was twice named CACC Player of the Week this fall, has delivered eight matches with 17 or more kills, including a career-high–tying 26 in a 3-1 victory over Caldwell. Jessen also ranks second on UB's roster in digs per set (2.45) and has posted nine double-doubles. She further contributed at the service line and at the net, leading the Purple Knights in aces (39) and adding 38 blocks on the season. Jessen surpassed 1,000 career kills earlier this fall and now sits at 1,271 with a .228 career hitting percentage.
Tomiello earned a spot on the CACC All-Conference Second Team, signifying her third straight season receiving all-league recognition after back-to-back first-team selections as a sophomore and junior.
Tomiello ranks fourth in the conference in hitting percentage this fall at an efficient .316 (.382 in conference play). In fact, she has made the fewest errors in the league of someone with at least 125 kills. Tomiello also sits second on UB in both total blocks (61) and aces (32), underscoring her impact on both sides of the ball. This season, she surpassed several major milestones, eclipsing 1,000 career kills, 250 blocks, and 500 digs. Consistent as ever, she recorded multiple blocks in 20 matches and produced six or more kills in 13 contests.
Jessen, Tomiello and the rest of UB's volleyball team will return to action on Saturday in the CACC Semifinals at Goldey-Beacom. The Purple Knights will take on top-seeded Wilmington at 2:30 p.m.
