Volleyball Wins First Set in 3-1 Loss at Post
Purple Knights move to 7-5 in the CACC this season.
MIDDLEBURY, Conn. – Despite earning an opening-set victory, the University of Bridgeport's volleyball team dropped a 3-1 contest (25-23, 22-25, 14-25, 23-25) at Post University (22-3, 11-0 CACC) on Thursday night. The loss moves the Purple Knights' CACC record to 7-5 this season.
Freshman Madison Mohan paced Bridgeport's offense with a season-high 17 kills on a team-best .310 hitting percentage. Mohan also hit the 17-mark in kills in a five-set match at Dominican on Sept. 23.
Junior Hailey Jessen joined Mohan in double digits with 12 kills while senior Lucia Tomiello chipped in seven kills, four blocks, and nine-and-a-half points.
Jessen remains ranked third in the CACC in kills per set (3.43) this season while Tomiello is slotted fourth in the conference in hitting percentage (.305).
Freshman setter Camdyn Cieszkiewicz directed UB's attack with an impressive 42 assists to go along with a season-high five block assists.
Cieszkiewicz, who has now eclipsed 40 assists in three of her last eight matches, is currently ranked sixth in the CACC in assists per set (7.62) this season.
Elaine DeLallo and Cecilia Kowalski were also solid contributors for UB on Thursday. DeLallo picked up a team-high 25 digs while Kowalski posted seven kills and three block assists.
Kenyce Johnson and Ella Bowman joined DeLallo in double figures with respective dig totals of 16 and 11. The Purple Knights' 73 digs as a team serves as their second highest total of the year.
