Tomiello Eclipses 1,000 Kills in Volleyball's 3-0 Defeat at Felician
Purple Knights have four-match winning streak snapped.
RUTHERFORD, N.J. – In the first of three matches over the next four days, the University of Bridgeport's volleyball team endured a 3-0 defeat (25–23, 25–23, 25–19) at Felician on Wednesday night. The loss shifts the Purple Knights' record in the CACC to 7-3 this season.
Senior Lucia Tomiello led the Purple Knights' attack, executing a few milestones in the process. The native of Italy registered eight kills to put her over 1,000 for her career while also adding her 251st career block in the match as well.
Tomiello, who has played in 115 career matches for UB, is a two-time CACC All-Conference first-team selection. She has a career hitting percentage of .296 while averaging more than a half a block per set.
More individual leaders on Wednesday included freshmen Layla Wood (6) and Cecilia Kowalski (5) combining for 11 kills, and Madison Mohan totaling four more as UB's balanced attack totaled 27 put-aways.
Another freshman, Camdyn Cieszkiewicz, finished the match with 22 assists, seven digs, and a kill, while sophomore Ella Bowman led all players with 13 digs and contributed two service aces.
Senior Kenyce Johnson also aided Bridgeport at the service line with a pair of aces to go along with six digs.
