Volleyball's Jessen and Cieszkiewicz Earn CACC Weekly Awards for Second Time
Hailey Jessen, Player of the Week | Camdyn Cieszkiewicz, Setter of the Week
BRIDGEPORT, Conn. – For the second time in the last three weeks, junior Hailey Jessen and freshman Camdyn Cieszkiewicz of the University of Bridgeport's volleyball team have both earned CACC weekly awards. Jessen was tabbed as the conference's Player of the Week while Cieszkiewicz was named as the league's Setter of the Week.
Jessen was sensational for a UB squad that didn't drop a single set in wins over Dominican and Holy Family. The Colorado native piled up a team-high 30 kills (5.0/set) on a .391 hitting percentage. She also added 18 digs and seven service aces. Jessen is currently ranked third in the CACC in kills per set (3.53), second in points per set (4.27) and fourth in aces per set (0.50) this season. She is also second on UB in digs per set (2.34).
Jessen's success was fueled in large part by Cieszkiewicz's outstanding passing. The Illinois native averaged a remarkable 12.5 assists per set during Bridgeport's wins over Dominican and Holy Family. She also totaled 12 digs, four blocks and three aces. Cieszkiewicz has now eclipsed 30 assists in five consecutive matches and has climbed into sixth in the CACC in assists per set (7.35) this season.
Jessen, Cieszkiewicz and the rest of Bridgeport's volleyball squad will return to action on Wednesday with a road match at Felician (7 p.m.).
