Volleyball Continues Torrid Stretch With Home Sweep of Dominican
Purple Knights (6-2, CACC) have now won five of their last six matches.
BRIDGEPORT, Conn. – Continuing a red-hot stretch of conference matches, the University of Bridgeport's volleyball team rattled off a 3-0 victory (25-18, 25-18, 25-23) over Dominican on Tuesday night inside Hubbell Gym. The Purple Knights have now won five of their last six contests to move to 6-2 in the CACC this season.
Bridgeport's second straight sweep featured another terrific output from their freshman class. Madison Mohan led the Purple Knights with 14 kills while Camdyn Cieszkiewicz dished out another 33 assists.
Cieszkiewicz, who also tallied eight digs and two aces, is now averaging 9.4 assists across her last 30 sets of action. She has eclipsed 30 helpers in four consecutive matches.
Two more rookies, Cecilia Kowalski (6) and Layla Wood (4), combined for 10 kills in the win as Bridgeport finished with a .290 team hitting percentage.
A pair of upperclassmen were also superb for UB with junior Hailey Jessen adding 12 kills and senior Lucia Tomiello chipping in six on a team-best .429 hitting percentage.
Tomiello also recorded a team-best three block assists while Jessen had a team-high nine digs and four aces.
Jessen continues to rank third in the CACC in kills per set (3.42) this season while Tomiello is slotted fourth in the league in hitting percentage (.301).
