Volleyball's Jessen and Cieszkiewicz Collect CACC Weekly Awards
Hailey Jessen, CACC Co-Player of the Week | Camdyn Cieszkiewicz, CACC Co-Setter of the Week
BRIDGEPORT, Conn. – After helping the University of Bridgeport's volleyball team to a pair of wins last week, junior Hailey Jessen and freshman Camdyn Cieszkiewicz were each honored with CACC weekly awards on Monday. Jessen was named the Co-Player of the Week while Cieszkiewicz was selected as the Co-Setter of the Week.
Jessen delivered an outstanding stretch for Bridgeport, averaging 4.36 kills per set while hitting an efficient .295 across three matches. She also contributed on defense and at the service line with 40 digs, six blocks, and four aces. Jessen's top performance came in a four-set victory over Jefferson, where she tied her season high with 24 kills and notched a season-best 18 digs. She currently ranks third in the CACC in kills per set (3.42) this year.
Cieszkiewicz was equally as important to the Purple Knights during their 2-1 week. The rookie registered a terrific 9.60 assists per set over UB's three matches. She also added 16 digs, seven aces, and three kills. Cieszkiewicz was especially productive in UB's 3-1 victory over Jefferson, where she handed out a season-high 48 assists and nabbed seven digs. The Illinois native is currently ranked third amongst all freshmen in the CACC in assists per set this season.
Jessen, Cieszkiewicz and the rest of the UB volleyball squad will return to action on Saturday with a home match against Chestnut Hill College (2 p.m.).
