ORANGEBURG, N.Y. – Playing a second straight five-set match against a conference opponent, the University of Bridgeport's volleyball team dropped a 3-2 matchup (22-25, 25-18, 20-25, 25-17, 5-15) at Dominican on Wednesday night. The loss puts the Purple Knights at 1-1 inside the CACC this season.
Junior Hailey Jessen led the UB attack with a sensational effort that featured a match-high 24 kills on a stellar .442 hitting percentage. She also added 11 digs to secure her third double-double of the year to go along with a pair of solo blocks.
Freshman Madison Mohan was also terrific for the road squad, finishing the night with 17 kills (season high), three service aces (team high), and three total blocks.
Fellow rookie Camdyn Cieszkiewicz notched a season high of her own courtesy of 29 assists. Sophomore Ava Casales also helped move the offense with 14 helpers.
On the defensive side of things, junior Elaine DeLallo led the Purple and White in digs with 12 while sophomore Ella Bowman chipped in 10.
Despite a strong fourth set (25-17) to force a decisive fifth, Bridgeport couldn't overcome a fast Dominican start as the Chargers opened the final game on an 11-1 run.
