SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – On Day Two of the of the IVHOF East Region Clash held at American International College, the University of Bridgeport's volleyball team dropped a pair of non-conference matches to Bentley (3-1) and Molloy (3-0) on Saturday.
Match 1 – Bentley 3, Bridgeport 1 (25-19, 25-13, 23-25, 25-12)
It was a career milestone for junior Hailey Jessen that highlighted UB's opener. The Colorado native, who led the Purple Knights with nine kills in the match, surpassed 1,000 kills for her career--doing so in just 72 career matches.
Jessen, who has been named CACC All-Conference following her first two seasons at UB, owns a career kills-per-set of 3.67. She has also totaled 314 digs, 82 blocks and 37 aces as a Purple Knight thus far in her career.
A pair of freshmen followed Jessen in the kills department as Nevaeh Byrge and Madison Mohan combined for nine putaways.
Another rookie, Camdyn Cieszkiewicz directed the offense with a season-best 20 assists to go along with eight digs.
On the defensive side of things, Elaine DeLallo led UB with 14 digs while the Purple Knights combined for 10 block assists and one solo block (Cecilia Kowalski).
Match 2 – Molloy 3, Bridgeport 0 (25-19, 25-13, 25-15)
Jessen was once again at the forefront of UB's attack in the second contest. She notched a team-high nine kills in addition to six digs and an ace.
Mohan led Bridgeport in hitting percentage as she posted seven kills on just 15 attempts with one error (.400).
Kowalski, meanwhile, chipped in six kills of her own while sophomore setter Ava Casales finished with team-highs in both assists (16) and digs (7).
Lucia Tomiello rounded out UB's top performers with a team-best three blocks on two assists and one solo.

The Purple Knights, who are 1-0 in the CACC, will hop back into conference play with a road match at Dominican on Tuesday (Sept. 23) at 7 p.m.
