Volleyball Swept at AIC
Purple Knights fall by scores of 25-19, 26-24 and 25-21.
SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – On the first day of the IVHOF East Region Clash held at American International College, the University of Bridgeport's volleyball team suffered a three-set defeat (25-19, 26-24, 25-21) to the host Yellow Jackets on Friday afternoon.
Bridgeport battled in each set, especially the second where they rallied late before falling 26-24 but were unable to extend the match past a third frame.
Freshman Madison Mohan led the UB offense with a team-best eight kills while junior Hailey Jessen chipped in seven kills and 11 digs.
Sophomore Ava Casales and freshman Camdyn Cieszkiewicz split the passing duties for Bridgeport, finishing with 10 and eight assists respectively.
Junior Elaine DeLallo, meanwhile, put together a pair of team-high totals in the form of 15 digs and a pair of service aces. She continues to lead the Purple Knights in both of those categories this season.
Kenyce Johnson and Cecilia Kowalski were also steady contributors on both sides of the ball. Johnson finished with two kills, five digs, and a service ace while Kowalski had two kills and two blocks (1 solo).
UP NEXT
The Purple Knights will be back in Springfield tomorrow morning for matches against Bentley (9 a.m.) and Molloy (11:30 a.m.).
