Volleyball Sweeps Bloomfield for Fifth Straight Win
Purple Knights improve record to 17-9 overall this season and 10-3 in the CACC.
BLOOMFIELD, N.J. – Playing their final road match of the regular season, the University of Bridgeport's volleyball team tallied a 3-0 sweep (25-12, 25-20, 25-18) at Bloomfield College on Thursday night. The decisive win improves the Purple Knights' record to 17-9 overall this season and 10-3 in the CACC.
A fifth straight triumph for Bridgeport came easy as the Purple Knights didn't allow more than 20 points across their third consecutive sweep. Bridgeport is now 9-3 since the calendar turned to October.
Grace Presswood was terrific for the Purple Knights on Thursday. The sophomore notched a team-high 11 kills to mark her ninth match with double-digit putaways this season.
Presswood also added six digs and three aces while posting a .407 hitting percentage.
Following Presswood in the kills department was the trio of Lucia Tomiello, Paola Hernandez and Analdys Abreu. They all hit north of .400 while combining almost evenly for 20 kills.
Hernandez also finished with team-highs in both digs (9) and aces (5). As a team, UB piled up a season-high 20 service aces.
Freshman Ava Casales served as UB's main setter in the match, finishing with a team-best 19 assists. She also chipped in eight digs (2nd on the team).
The CACC's leader in assists this season, Jaden Drollinger, registered 12 assists in her only set of action on Thursday. She raises her superb average to 9.95 helpers per game this season.
