Volleyball Earns Road Sweep of Chestnut Hill
Purple Knights move to 16-9 this season, including a 9-3 mark in the CACC.
PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – Entering the day on a three-match winning streak, the University of Bridgeport's volleyball team continued to roll on Saturday with a 3-0 sweep (25-23, 25-15, 25-14) at Chestnut Hill College. The decisive win improves the Purple Knights' record to 16-9 this season, including a 9-3 mark in the CACC.
Bridgeport's dominance against the Griffins serves as their eighth sweep of the season. UB squeezed out a first-set win, 25-23, before not allowing more than 15 points across the final two sets.
In a match filled with superlatives, Paola Hernandez and Hailey Jessen were once again sensational for Bridgeport.
Hernandez led UB with 12 kills while Jessen finished with 10 putaways and a .450 hitting percentage.
Hernandez, who also had six digs in the match, continues to lead the CACC in kills per set (3.60) this season.
Lucia Tomiello and Jaden Drollinger were also standout performers on Saturday. Tomiello had six kills on a team-best .455 hitting percentage while also leading the Purple Knights with three total blocks.
Drollinger once again directed the offense with 25 more assists. She also picked up a team-high nine digs and hammered a team-best three aces.
Drollinger continues to lead the CACC in assists per set this season with a mark of 9.94.
Collectively speaking, the Purple Knights hit .301, which is their third highest mark of the season. They also finished with 9.0 blocks— their highest total in a three-set match this year.
