Volleyball Bested by Georgian Court, 3-1
Purple Knights fall to 12-9 this season, including 5-3 in the CACC.
BRIDGEPORT, Conn. – In a rematch of last season's CACC Quarterfinals, the University of Bridgeport's volleyball team dropped a 3-1 contest (25-15, 20-25, 21-25, 21-25) to Georgian Court on Friday night. The loss shifts the Purple Knights' record to 12-9 overall this fall and 5-3 in the CACC.
After dropping the first set to the Purple Knights, Georgian Court rattled off three games in a row to improve to 7-1 in the conference this season.
Bridgeport's attack was led by a pair of 15-kill performances from Hailey Jessen and Paola Hernandez.
Hernandez, who ranks second in the CACC in kills per set (3.57), also added 10 digs en route to her 10th double-double of the season (team high).
Lucia Tomiello served as UB's top hitter percentagewise (.333) on her way to hammering 11 kills. The native of Italy ranks sixth in the CACC in hitting percentage this season (.306).
UB's facilitator on Friday night was once again Jaden Drollinger. The CACC's leader in assists dished out another 41 against Georgian Court.
Drollinger raises her assists average to 9.88 per set this season. She also had 12 digs in the match for her ninth double-double of the year.
Speaking of digs, UB had four finish with double-figure pickups. Freshman Ella Bowman led the way with a team-best 14.
