Volleyball Drops Five-Setter at Post
Purple Knights move to 10-7 overall this season and 3-2 in the CACC.
WATERBURY, Conn. – Continuing a busy stretch of matches, which includes back-to-back conference wins, the University of Bridgeport's volleyball team dropped a five-set contest (25-22, 21-25, 14-25, 25-19, 12-15) at Post on Tuesday night. The tight loss moves the Purple Knights' record to 10-7 overall this season and 3-2 in the CACC.
Bridgeport, which has now played three five-setters this season, battled back from a 2-1 deficit before Post earned a 15-12 final-set win.
The Purple Knights were highlighted by an array of great individual performances. Paola Hernandez stabilized the offense with a sensational 20-kill effort. She also added 19 digs and an efficient .235 hitting percentage.
Classmate Jaden Drollinger was equally instrumental in the UB attack. The senior finished with a match-high 48 assists to go along with 11 digs and 2.5 blocks.
Drollinger continues to lead the CACC in both total assists (641) and assists per set (9.71) this season.
Lucia Tomiello and Hailey Jessen supplemented the UB offense with 11 kills apiece as they joined Hernandez with three Purple Knights in double figures.
Defensively, Bridgeport strung together a pair of season highs. The Purple Knights finished the match with 93 digs and 11 blocks, both of which are team bests this season.
Individually on the defensive side, sophomore Grace Presswood picked up a season-best 24 digs. She also managed five kills in the match.
