Freshman Paola Hernandez Named ECC Women's Volleyball Rookie Of The Week For The Third Time This Season
Helped Bridgeport Go 2-0 Last Week
West Babylon, N.Y.- University of Bridgeport freshman Paola Hernandez (Bayamon, P.R.) has been named the East Coast Conference Women's Volleyball Rookie Player of the Week for her fine play in matches that took place from September 20 through 26, 2021. This is the third time so far in 2021 that she has earned ECC Rookie of the Week accolades.
Hernandez helped UB go 2-0 on the week averaging 3.50 kills and 2.63 digs per set. In a five-set triumph over Caldwell, she had a double-double with 20 kills and 14 digs. In Saturday's 3-0 win at Roberts Wesleyan, Paola added eight kills and seven digs. On the week, she also added two assists and one service ace. So far in 2021, Hernandez leads the UB offense averaging 3.5 kills per set.
Teammate, setter Jaden Drollinger (Fr., Queens Creek, Az.) was named to the ECC Honor Roll for volleyball for the third time this season, after being selected as the conference Setter of the Week last week.
The University of Bridgeport volleyball team will be busy this week playing three matches, as they travel to the University of New Haven on Tuesday evening, host Queens (N.Y.) College on Wednesday at 7:00 p.m. and round out action at Molloy on Saturday afternoon.
