Paola Hernandez Earns Second Straight ECC Women's Volleyball Rookie Of The Week Honor
Helped UB Go 2-1 Last Week At The Post University Invitational
West Babylon, N.Y.-University of Bridgeport freshman Paola Hernandez (Bayamon, P.R.) has been named the East Coast Conference Women's Volleyball Rookie Player of the Week for her fine play in matches that took place from September 6 through 12, 2021. This is this second straight week that she has earned ECC Rookie of the Week accolades.
Hernandez helped UB go 2-1 on the week averaging 3.1 kills per set plus 2.1 digs. She slammed double-digits kills in a five-set loss to New Haven (16 kills) and also had 16 in a five-set win against Southern Conn. State. In the New Haven match, Paola notched her third double-double of the year with 11 digs to go along with those 16 kills. So far this season, she leads the Purple Knights in kills per set 3.48.
Teammate, setter Jaden Drollinger (Fr., Queens Creek, Az.) was named to the ECC Honor Roll for volleyball for the second consecutive week.
This week, the UB women's volleyball team hosts Adelphi in Hubbell Gym at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday evening and travel to St. Rose for a Friday night contest.
