Three Purple Knights Earn Weekly East Coast Conference Volleyball Awards
Amanda Hennemann, Klein Johnson And Carly Killorin Recognized For Their Outstanding Play Helping UB Open the Season At 6-0
West Babylon, N.Y.-Three members of the University of Bridgeport women's volleyball team have been recognized by the East Coast Conference for their outstanding play last week, as they helped the Purple Knights go a perfect 6-0 to begin the 2019 season.
Senior Amanda Hennemann (Nova Petropolis, Brazil) earned ECC Player of the Week honors. Junior Klein Johnson (San Antonio, Texas) has been named the conference's Defensive Player of the Week, and sophomore Carly Killorin (Centennial, Col.) has been selected as the East Coast Conference Setter of the Week.
Hennemann slammed a team-high 60 kills, averaging 3.33 kills per set, as she hit .360 (60 k-10 e-139 ta). Amanda reached double-digit kills in four of her team's six matches on the week with a high of 13 against Felician. On the week, she also had 33 digs, eight service aces, five assists and one block.
Johnson was rock solid on the UB defensive backline all week as she amassed a team high 81 digs in those six outings to average 4.1 per set. Johnson had double-digit digs in each match on the week, and she also chipped in 14 service aces and 14 assists for the Purple Knights.
Killorin averaged 10.8 assists and 2.9 digs per set last week, as her outstanding play helped Bridgeport open the season at a perfect 6-0. In those six matches, Killorin notched three three-doubled. Her high in assists was 43 in a four-set triumph over Felician. She also chipped in 14 kills, seven blocks and four service aces on the week.
The Bridgeport volleyball team Returns to the court at home on Tuesday evening when the Purple Knights host Bentley University. First serve in Hubbell Gym is slated for 7:00 p.m.
