Miami Shores, Fla.-The University of Bridgeport women's volleyball team fell twice on the final day of the Barry University Invitational in Florida on Saturday dropping a pair four-set match to Texas A&M Kingsville, 25-20, 12-20, 14-25, 16-25 and falling the undefeated Buccaneers, again 25-21, 11-25, 18-25, 13-25, Bridgeport is now 2-3 overall after going 1-3 at the Barry Invitational.
In Saturday's opener against TAMUK, junior Morgan Knight (Highlands Ranch, Colo.) led the Purple Knights with eight kills. Senior setter Ellie Rich (Highlands Ranch, Colo.) had 24 assists, and sophomore Klein Johnson (San Antonio, Texas) led the team with 17 digs.
Verus Barry, junior Emily Burford (Albuquerque, N.M. ) led the UB offense with 13 kills. Ellie Rich finished with a double-double of 31 assists and 10 digs. Klein Johnson once again led the team in digs with 16, and freshman Breanna Jones (Littleton, Colo.) had a fine match contributing 14 digs and seven kills.
Up next, the UB women's volleyball team returns home to Hubbell Gym to face St. Anselm College on Tuesday night in Hubbell Gym. First serve is slated for 7:00 p.m.
