Two Purple Knights Earn Weekly ECC Women's Volleyball Awards

Central Islip, N.Y.-After helping their team post a perfect 5-0 week from September 28 through October 4, 2015, two members of the University of Bridgeport women's volleyball team have been recognized by the East Coast Conference for their outstanding play.

For the second consecutive week and the third this season, UB junior Katarina Krstonosic (Kikinda, Serbia) has been selected as the East Coast Conference Women's Volleyball Player of the Week, and freshman Ellie Rich (Highlands Ranch, Colo.) earned ECC Setter of the Week accolades.

Krstonosic averaged 4.19 kills and 4.06 digs per set with a .352 attack percentage in the Purple Knights' five matches. On the week, she had three double-doubles and had double figures in kills in one match and double digits in digs in the other in which she did not have a double-double. Katarina also added five blocks, eight service aces, and three assists on the week.

Rich helped Bridgeport go 5-0 by averaging 12.19 assists per set.  Ellie also added 27 total digs, two blocks, two service aces and eight kills on the week.

The UB women's volleyball team will be in action this week at Queens (N.Y.) College on Thursday night and host Adelphi University on Friday evening.
