Blijana Savic Becomes First UB Player In History To Earn AVCA National NCAA Division II Women's Volleyball Player Of The Week Honors

Central Islip, N.Y.-University of Bridgeport junior volleyball standout Biljana Savic (Novi Sad, Serbia) continues to make history, as she was named the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) NCAA Division II Women's National Player of the Week today. Biljana becomes the first UB player ever to be honored as an AVCA National Player of the Week. She also was named East Coast Conference Volleyball Player of the Week this week.
In last week's action, Savic made history becoming the first University of Bridgeport women's volleyball player to record back-to-back triple doubles in wins over American International and Roberts Wesleyan, plus she had a double-double in her team's win over Dowling. On the week, Savic hit an impressive .475 on the week averaging 3.78 kills per set, plus she averaged 3.11 digs per set. Biljana opened the week with an 11 kills, 17 assists with seven digs performance in a 3-0 win over Dowling, and she followed that up with a triple-double versus American International (16 assists, 10 kills and 11 digs) and finished the week with 21 assists, 13 kills and 10 digs versus Roberts Wesleyan.
This week, Biljana and her teammates play two ECC road matches traveling to Molloy College on Tuesday evening and NYIT on Thursday night.
