Freshman Biljana Savic Earns ECC Volleyball Rookie Of The Week Honors
This Week's Honor Marks Second Time So Far In 2011 Savic Has Earned ECC Accolades
Central Islip, N.Y.-For the second time this season, University of Bridgeport freshman volleyball player, Biljana Savic (Novi Sad, Serbia), has been selected as the East Coast Conference Rookie of the Week.
Savic was outstanding in a five-set loss by the Purple Knights on the road at regional power New Haven last Wednesday night in UB's only action of the week as she registered a match-high and career-high 26 kills (5.2 kills/set) with an attack percentage of .396. She also added 12 digs (2.4 digs/set), two block assists and one service ace in the match. On the season, Biljana leads the Purple Knights with 68 total kills (4.3 kills/set) and attack percentage of .241.
This week, Bridgeport volleyball will be busy playing three home matches as they host Stonehill on Tuesday, open conference play versus NYIT on Thursday and finish the week with a non-conference tilt against Caldwell on Saturday.
