Track and Field Completes Day One at Bucknell Challenge and Multis
Emma Pastorelli leads the way with sixth-place effort (4th among non-D1 competitors) in the pentathlon.
LEWISBURG, Pa. – Highlighted by the women's pentathlon, the University of Bridgeport's men's and women's track and field teams opened competition at the two-day Bucknell Bison Challenge and Multis on Friday night.
Women's Highlights
Emma Pastorelli turned in a strong all-around showing in the pentathlon, finishing sixth overall (4th among non-D1 competitors) with 2,773 points. She recorded a pair of top-five finishes for the Purple Knights.
The Italy native highlighted her day with a runner-up performance in the 60-meter hurdles (9.40) and a fifth-place effort in the high jump (1.44m), while also placing ninth in the shot put (8.50m), eighth in the long jump (4.74m) and 10th in the 800m (2:49.55).
Fiona Richards added another solid performance for UB in the shot put, placing 12th overall with a mark of 11.27 meters.
Men's Highlights
Kamal Abdul-Aziz continued his strong freshman season with an 11th-place finish in the 200m, crossing the line in 22.89 seconds for the Purple Knights.
Another freshman Sunil Peters followed his classmate closely in the 200m with a time of 22.98 to place 14th.
Senior Toby Middleton also delivered a solid effort for Bridgeport, placing seventh in the 5000m with a time of 16:17.00.
