Kivagheni and Lingley Earn CACC Track and Field Weekly Awards
Abety Kivagheni, Field Rookie of the Week | Dante Lingley, Track Athlete of the Week
BRIDGEPORT, Conn. – Following standout performances at last weekend's Jack Maloney/Jim Barber Invitational held at SCSU, a pair of University of Bridgeport's track and field athletes earned CACC weekly awards on Tuesday. Dante Lingley was tabbed as the conference's Track Athlete of the Week while Abety Kivagheni was named the league's Field Rookie of the Week.
Lingley was superb in a pair of events on Saturday afternoon in New Haven. He improved both of his school records and tallied a pair of top-five times. The graduate student posted a fifth-place performance in the 100-meter (10.92) before placing second in the 200-meter (22.18). He is currently ranked 18th in the region in the 100 and 16th in the 200.
Kivagheni, meanwhile, put together an excellent effort in the long jump on Friday. The Massachusetts native posted a PR of 4.92m which is currently ranked as the eighth-best mark in the CACC this season. Kivagheni has improved roughly one full meter in the long jump during her freshman campaign.
UB's track and field squads will return to action this weekend at the 2025 CACC Championships to be held at Georgian Court University.
