Women's Swimming and Diving Sits Fifth After Day Two of NE10 Championships

WORCESTER, Mass. – Led by a total of seven student-athletes who qualified for A and B Finals on Friday night, the University of Bridgeport's women's swimming and diving squad finished Day Two of the NE10 Championships sitting fifth in the team standings. The Purple Knights hold 198 total points after 16 events.
Sophomore diver Amber Militrano opened the night session with a sixth-place performance in the one-meter. The West Haven native added 13 points to UB's total thanks to a final score of 201.20.
The Purple Knights began the swimming events with a fourth-place tally in the 200-free relay. UB's team of Ceyda Genç, Hazel Clark, Cristal Margarita Gómez Rodriguez and Ania Mrozik posted a mark of 1:38.38.
Luca Olsen followed with the Purple Knights' top individual placement of the night in the 500-free. The Norway native rattled off a time of 5:10.78.
Pierina Ferraresi also supplied points in the 500-free courtesy of an 11th-place finish in 5:23.92.
UB's most points of the night came in the 200-IM. Anna Forlani won the B Final in a time of 2:12.52 while Patricia Torviso placed 13th (2:14.73) and Gómez Rodriguez touched in 15th (2:14.82).
Mrozik led the Purple Knights in the final individual event of the night. The Connecticut native sprinted to a time of 25.28 to place 15th in the 50-free.
UB closed out Friday evening with their first medal of the championships. Bridgeport's 400-medley team of Clark, Gómez Rodriguez, Genç and Olsen grabbed the bronze with a time of 3:56.88.
