LAKEWOOD, N.J. – Continuing a stretch of five consecutive away games, the University of Bridgeport's women's soccer team was defeated at Georgian Court on Saturday by a score of 2-1. The loss shifts the Purple Knights' record to 2-4-3 this season (1-3, CACC).
Bridgeport enjoyed a great start against the Lions with a goal in the third minute.
Senior Brooke Boucher hammered in her third tally of the season to give UB a 1-0 lead. Bridgeport now has three different players who have scored a team-best three goals this season.
Angelina LoFranco found a cutting Boucher to pick up her team-best third assist of the season. She now has 19 career helpers for the Purple Knights.
Bridgeport was unable to hold the 1-0 lead as Georgian Court put in two second-half goals (49th, 76th minute). Chelsea Lavezzo notched both tallies for the home squad.
Statistically, UB posted a 7-6 advantage in shots-on-goal (22-10 in total shots) and a 5-2 edge in corner kicks. GCU goalkeeper Emma Bennett finished with six stops in net.
